Disposable Chafing Dishes - How To!?

I am hosting a small gathering this weekend and plan to have a Mac 'n' Cheese and Chili Bar (with tons of toppings for guests to customize their own).

I plan to cook chili in a pot and transfer to the disposable chafer, however I am not sure how to do it with the Mac 'n' Cheese, because it will have a bread crumb topping thus transferring it from a baking dish to a the . Can I cook the Mac 'n' Cheese in the half pan and then just put it into the chafer?
