There were some really interesting nominations this month. I’m very appreciative of all the thought that went into them, and of all you home cooks who play along here on DOTM. Apparently a lot of us have a sweet tooth this month, as it has come down to a choice between STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and RHUBARB PIES, CRISPS, & CRUMBLES (thanks to masha for the inspiration on what to call this). If you’re interested in seeing the nomination thread, here is a link: https://www.chowhound.com/post/home-c...
Strawberry shortcake is defined as a biscuit-like sweet cake topped with strawberries/strawberry sauce. For our purposes, the rhubarb choice will be a baked dessert with rhubarb, with a focus on pies, crisps, crumbles (and all the other fun, goofy names there are for baked fruit things – my favorite being boy bait).
To vote, click on the heart at the lower right of the post below for the dish you wish to select. Please vote for only one dish. You can change your vote by clicking the heart again to "unlike" the post, then clicking the heart by your new choice. Please vote with the intention of cooking the dish and participating in our reporting thread in June (but do keep in mind that we love keeping these threads alive with later reports).
Please only comment after all the voting posts at the top so that we can keep them together (in other words, reply directly to this post, not to one of the nominees).
Voting will close on Friday, May 31st at 4:00 pm eastern time.
If you’re new to Dish of the Month, a hearty welcome. If you’ve been lurking for a while, come out of the shadows and join us. Vote for a dish and join us in preparing and discussing that dish during the entire month of June and beyond.
