What products have you enjoyed that Trader Joe's no longer carries?
Yes! I feel bad because I didn't know this product was seasonal, so I raved about it to everyone I know and got several people hooked on it. Then it vanished and they were so upset.
I'm really hoping TJ's will bring it back as a year-round product.
Either the Blue Cheese Mustard is back or folks in my city didn’t buy it all up over the holidays.
Soy Dream enriched original soy milk. They had the cheapest price for it and it was my family's favorite for cereal. TJs carried it reliably for years. Not anymore. :(
I actually just opened a box of trader joe’s soymilk i had in the cupboard a while (usually i buy the refrigerated almond milk), it was the organic enriched vanilla version in a purple box, and really delicious once chilled! I think it was just under $3 here in nyc. There’s also an original and chocolate version
For some reason, my family consistently rejected TJ's house brand original soy milk. But Soy Dream was a consistent winner. They've now switched to the refrigerated unsweetened one, but the kids aren't happy about it (unsweetened!) and it's a pain to keep it stocked at home depending on how much room is available in the fridge. We bought some back up shelf stable kind from Costco.
If the costco version doesn’t work out i’ve found jet.com often has better prices than amazon and they sell it so you could bulk order some since it’s good for about ever

1. Blue cheese mustard
2. They had a great low calories vanilla ice cream
Fage Yogurt!
Hadn’t seen any lately in my NYC (USQ) store so I asked a crew member stocking the dairy case when the next delivery was expected?
Was told that TJs stopped carrying Fage yogurt.
I then went to Customer Service desk and was told that the decision to stop selling Fage was not temporary but a permanent one given that they carry their own store brand of Greek style yogurt.
I was disappointed about this also! Fage 2 percent is my ideal yogurt! I haven´t tried the TJs house brand though, so maybe I will give it a shot next time.
I noticed that, but haven’t been buying yogurt lately and just figured they were out of stock.
That sucks! TJs always had the best price for Fage in NYC
Does anyone know who made/makes the little carton of coconut creamer that has recently disappeared from shelves? It was different than the one by So Delicious. I can't find a dupe.
I enjoyed their Wholesome and Natural dog food formula, the only dog food that didn't upset my sensitive stomach.
Now that they no longer will carry this and also their Holistic dog food also.
Does anybody know who made the "Wholesome and Natural Dog Food Formula"?
First of all, you would be better off not eating dog food at all if you have a sensitive stomach, but I'll try to help, anyway.
I can't find one with exactly the same ingredients. However, there are a lot of brands with similar ingredients and many of them are probably sourced from private-label manufacturers of different brands. It's hard to tell who actually makes the food for many brands. Each of the ingredients probably come from just a few suppliers, anyway.
The obvious answer would be the same company that makes the Bench & Field Holistic Natural Feline Treats:
https://www.benchandfield.com/product...
TJ's does seem to sometimes sell a name brand product as well as private label products made by the same company.
This one also looks pretty close as far as the main ingredients and they have other pet foods that contain all of the ingredients in the TJ's kibble.
http://www.holisticselect.com/dog/adu...
parent company:
http://www.wellpet.com/brands.aspx
They may even make the Bench & Field Holistic foods.
However, there are other possibilities as General Mills which makes brands like Rachel Ray's Nutrish and Blue Buffalo.
https://bluebuffalo.com/natural-dog-f...
https://nutrish.com/dog/dish/chicken-...
So there are lots of similar foods out there but apparently none exactly the same, or at least not that I can find.
I've been a long time user of this dog food - but more because the 8lb size was easy to store. The 20 lb bag that they still sell sits precariously on a high shelf in the small bathroom. Fortunately my dog's stomach isn't sensitive.
Does anyone know anything about TJ’s Organic Taza Blues Salted Blue Corn Tortilla Chips? I found them just once at the end of 2018 and haven't seen them stocked in three different TJ's near me. Have they already been discontinued?
what happened to the Wicked Sticky Pecan Buns?! I have looked in Trader Joe's from New Hampshire to Arizona and no sign of them!
Anyone know what the story is with the lack of any coffee creamers?? My store had a sign for where the small size carton of soy creamer was out of stock, and then they had the small size coconut creamer (ICK) and that was it. Neither of the larger size vanilla and hazelnut coffee creamers were there, signs also not there.
An employee just said they were “out of stock” but if so they usually still have the sign out.
Any sightings of the California Estate Olive Oil recently? It has been my trusty salad dressing oil for years now, but I haven't seen it in a couple of months.
I haven't checked real recently in my local stores, but a couple of years ago when it went missing for a bit, I was told that they'd sold out the previous stock and were waiting for the more recent harvest's bottling to become available, and it was eventually back on the shelves. So could be what's happened this time, too.
My store manger says they’re “looking for a new vendor”. So it’s either gone or will be different.
Anyone know an EVOO nearly as versatile, high-quality, and cheap?
I learned about the Pastures of Eden feta here a few years ago and have been buying it ever since .. now they've discontinued it!! I hope they reconsider and bring it back. What's your favorite feta? I loved this one because it was creamy and not too salty.
oh no, is that the one from israel, like around $10 ??? 100% sheep's feta? that was the most delicious feta I'd ever eaten.
I googled it to see if any other store around me sold it; I found no one else selling it. Also found that for a few years protesters tried to get TJ to stop carrying it.
ugh. if that's why tj's stopped it, then they're idiots.
They're still selling Bamba, so I'm sure that's not it!
no, it was a supply-side issue. I contacted the producer, and they're selling their feta at Wegman's -- an east coast high-end chain. pastures of eden, the producer, was very prompt in their response to my inquiry about how to find their product in my area. it is worth seeking out. - the best I've ever had.
I just googled and can't find how to get in touch with the producer .. help! I want to know if anyone in SF Bay area sells this feta.
They never answered my email. You want to give them a try? Or, any other suggestions?
I found the cheese at Wegman's. I'd suggest you email them again. I also emailed them on your behalf, asking about retailers in the SF area.
Thank you. There's a store called 22nd Avenue Market, mostly produce, no animal meats. The owners are Greek and have several brands of feta, all kinds of filo. I told one of the owners how I miss Pastures of Eden (they never carried it) and he suggested I buy the French one they sell (it's not funky or strong tasting). He said it's what he eats at home. I've adjusted to this one. If I had Pastures of Eden again, I could do a side by side tasting. They sell it cut and wrapped but he said it would last longer in brine and that I should buy the Valbreso packing in a tin with brine.
I decided not to keep it in the tin; I put it all in a glass pyrex with plastic lid.
Pastures of eden is the same as Bulgarian feta . Which is the best kind of feta cheese. Any store that carries Bulgarian feta would be the exact same thing. Usually at Ethnic stores like Persian ones have it. You can also find it at Whole Foods. It is significantly cheaper in ethnic stores though.
The TJ feta and the Bulgarian one from Grocery Outlet (I threw away the packaging but it's green and white, Popolo, or something) is not the same, it's very funky. I used to like Mt Vikos but noticed it's sold at WF and really expensive.
Does anyone know where to buy Pastures of Eden feta in San Francisco?
it is nowhere close to Bulgarian feta. it is smoother, creamier and less salty.
Haven't seen gigli pasta in ages. I'd be sorry if it's gone, it was a good whacky/specialty pasta.
I was just told that the Moroccan Style iced mint tea in the 2 qt bottle has been discontinued. It was just barely sweet, minty and citrusy and so refreshing. I tried to make it myself from their Moroccan mint teabags but it just wasn't as good. I'm crushed.
They’ve apparently dropped their Orange Muscat Vinegar. I know because my wife is complaining bitterly after our local (SoCal) store manager told her that. She’s used it in homemade salad dressing for years and is hoping to find a close sub. Any help in that regard would really be appreciated.
Frozen Orange Juice concentrate --good to have on hand for guests, and illness when you can't go shopping and need fluids.
Weetabix --whole grain, portion-controlled, plain so you can add anything, unsweetened.
Whole-wheat flour-- not the white whole wheat that pretends to be white. Whole wheat flour used to be sold year-round, then it became seasonal (as though only at Christmas did one bake with whole wheat flour) and then it was gone.
It seems TJs eliminates the "slow sellers." It is really eliminating cooking and baking ingredients that people who cook and bake actually use in favor of trendy items for people who only want to reheat.
The cinnamon raisin whole wheat British muffins have been discontinued. :-(
I hadn't seen them for a couple of months, but the people on the floor kept saying they were changing the labels and they'd be back soon. I finally asked at the desk and he said they had been discontinued since June. He said not enough people bought them and more went to the food bank than were sold. Well, I bought them, but maybe I was the only one. The cinnamon raisin English muffins in other stores, including Whole Foods, aren't whole wheat.
I believe that the Antipasto Mediterranean vegetables and the chocolate chip cantuccini have been discontinued or will be shortly, depending on where you live.
Sad, because had become a pantry mainstay for a quick weeknight pasta.
I confirmed that the Light feta has been discontinued but they will start carrying a new feta in September, though I can´t remember the country of origin.
bummed to find out that the chocolate covered cocoa nibs are gone (though the plain roasted nibs are still available at a great price).
a few years back, they discontinued another favorite, chocolate covered pomegranate seeds.
Braised turkey drumsticks. They were very good last year and I was hoping they would have more (especially for Thanksgiving). However, I called yesterday and was told they were discontinued.
I suspect the frozen leeks are gone, haven't found them the last couple of TJ's trips. Damn.
It looks like the Banana Nut Clusters cereal is discontinued. Very sad. Does anyone know of a comparable banana flavored cereal or granola?
Vegan Spread (mayo substitute) is gone. My 8 yr old is very sad. He preferred it to regular mayo.
I decided that I enjoyed the jarred Roasted Artichoke Hearts so much that they would become a pantry staple (the oil in the jar tasted great, too). Last time I was at TJ's they were gone. Anyone else still have these on their shelves? Could be that everyone else loved them as much as I did and they just ran out (didn't ask employees)?!?
Anyone seen the frozen croissants in the box? The almond ones and chocolate ones are still available but the plain ones have disappeared. My area (central California) sells frozen ones in a bag but they are not the same and not as good.
There was a whole thread about this from a B&B owner a few months ago, with some discussion of alternatives, but many seem to agree that the ones in the bag are inferior.
I'm not sure if this is true everywhere, but one of the people at my Trader Joe's (Albany NY) told me that they've stopped mailing the Fearless Flyer. You can only pick them up in the store now.
So that's what happened, I keep meaning to ask. I live in CA and haven't seen one in months. They used to come once a month.
I only found out because I couldn't find the "new products" display. When I asked an associate, he said they didn't have one because of all the holiday stuff and that if I wanted to know what's new I should grab a Fearless Flyer (although really it doesn't tell you much about what's new) from the front of the store because they've stopped mailing them.
Or maybe it's not discontinued. The holiday Fearless Flyer showed up in my mailbox Saturday.
I asked and was told that the flyer will be mailed for special occasions--Christmas, probably Easter, and maybe at the beginning of summer, they will do it occasionally but not on a particular schedule.
Makes sense not to mail it out so often because the trash can in the mailroom where I live is full of Fearless Flyers the day they are delivered.
I got one last week, too. Sometimes I do look through it, but I prefer the online version because the ink doesn't get on my fingers. The one from last week is still sitting on my desk, unopened.
I was told the Harvest Hodgepodge frozen veggie blend has been discontinued. I used it for stir fries. Their other stir fry veggie blends come with sauce (which I don't need) and are pricier.
