Disappointment at La Casita

Jess | Mar 14, 200512:31 AM

I took the subway from Universal City on Friday, so I decided to stop at La Casita on my way home to get some tacos. I’ve had wonderful carne asada tacos before, so I was extraordinarily disappointed by the carne asada and the pastor. Both were shockingly bland, a particular sin for the pastor. From the color, they had obviously been marinated, but they were essentially tasteless. So was the asada; none of the flavorful marinade that I remember from previous visits was detectable. That is a huge shame, because their tacos are usually a great deal – generous servings of meat in nice tortillas.

Was this a one-time problem or has anyone noticed the quality of the food at La Casita declining? I can still go to Taqueria Los Tapatios (I'm addicted to their wonderfully flavorful pastor) or El Jerezano, but La Casita is more convenient when I'm taking the 101 from the subway or downtown.
