disappointment with EBISU (East Village)

Hello Kitty! | Apr 18, 2005 07:52 AM

I was looking forward to EBISU based on some very positive reviews by a couple of Chowhounders.

Unfortunately, very scattered service literally "dampened" our experience: our waitress spilled two wine glasses of ice water all over my husband and me. They apologized; however they should have done more -- at the very least offer us some free drinks!

We spent most of the meal shivering because our pants were soaked with ice water!

The best part of the meal was an extremely fresh and well-assembled tuna (raw) and avocado salad. The cold udon noodles with dipping sauce was enjoyable. The sushi combination platter was just okay -- I've had better at ZUTTO, and for less $. Some pieces fell apart too easily. The pieces could have been more carefully created -- the restaurant was nowhere near full.

Again, upon leaving, the customers were not even acknowledged with a "Thank you" or "Goodbye." Very disappointing.

EBISU should get its act together!
