Unbelievably bad. First they tried to sit us a table right by a service door. In the three minutes we sat there, my friend's chair was bumped at least a couple times. Made no sense that we did that since we were early for our reservation. They were nice about switching it though. Service was pretty good except when our waiter tried to shoe the sommelier away from us, which was upsetting because we were looking forward to talking to her. I had him bring her back.
Anyway, onto the food. Smoked swordfish and salmon were bland, though the salmon was ok. The mushroom timbale offered no excitying flavor. The veal was dressed in a heavy mayo-based sauce. Halibut tasted like it had been frozen and was somewhat grainy. Ravioli had no discernable flavor. Squab was undercooked.
Plus the menu is laid out poorly, with no translations for the specials and all-capped fonts and no distict sectionals between apps and ents.
How anyone can say this place is romantic is beyond me. Service is hurried and helpers are constantly darting around the dining room. Tables are too close together and the decor is tired.
Why on earth is this place so popular?
