Disappointing experience at Community Natural Foods Chinook Station Market (YYC)

maplesugar | Jan 3, 201504:07 PM

I stopped in at Community Natural Foods store by Chinook Centre for the first time in a long while. I won't be going back.

The store has changed a bit since I'd been in, they've added a salad and hot bar. I was interested in trying some of their chickpea curry… so I look up, the sign says it's $3.39 a cup…steep, but I thought I'd give it a try. I look for a cup or container, see that there are white cups with lids…wonder if I should use those or something else. Holding up a cup I ask a staff member who is at the other end of the bar "I see the curry is sold by the cup, is this it?" He says "No, that's for soup." and goes back to what he was doing. I'm standing there, looking at him and he's actively not paying attention anymore. All I can think is really? Thanks a lot?! and I get frustrated…thinking, do I have to spell it out?? What container should I use??? Nothing.

So I felt like a moron, gave up, and went to the till with the produce I had already picked up. I got home and unwrapped the english cucumber I bought. Slimy. The potatoes I bought? I had to cut out the green bits. Yuck.

I don't live anywhere near Chinook, and based on the reception I got when I tried to ask for help the first time, I didn't think it was worth the 20+minute drive back there.
