Disappointed by Moishe's Pippic

My wife and I tried Moishe's Pippic, a "Chicago style" Jewish deli on Hayes and Gough yesterday. I'd read many good things about it, but I was pretty disappointed.

Meal got off to a bad start with the potato latke I ordered. It looked as if it might have been good when it was first made, but it was clearly made earlier (the day before?) and reheated. Instead of being crisp, it was soft and oily and somewhat cold inside. Inedible, really. When I brought this to the attention of the proprietor, he sneered at me and took it away silently.

The rest of the meal was better, though tainted by the bad start. The matzoh ball soup was tasty, though the balls themselves were a little dense. The pastrami and corned beef sandwich we ordered was nice.

Overall, it wasn't that bad, but I don't think we'll be going back.
