We had high hopes for The Del after hearing that it was a newer restaurant serving some interesting dishes. We were seated promptly, and the fireplace added to the ambiance but it was soon totally destroyed by loud obnoxious dance music. I mean, my seat was vibrating. We asked the waiter if he could arrange to have the music turned down, but even so it was still much too loud. I understand that there is a pool table in the next room, but why call yourself a "restaurant and bar" if the scene is only about the bar? Our appetizer, the Ipswich Clams, which we ordered at least 20 minutes before placing our entree orders did not appear until after our entrees had been served. Our waiter was very apologetic, but he didn't offer us the appetizer (or any dessert) on the house. Now, I don't expect them to do that, but still, if they are looking to build their clientele and want repeat customers, I figured that they would at least offer something. The short ribs, which the waiter raved were "briased for 4-5 hours" were dry. I was surprised becuase I thought that it was run by the same folks who do the Beechwood, and we had wonderful short ribs there once. My herb glazed chicken was so-so, the consomee was nice, but the potatos I was looking forward to were virtually non-existant (maybe about 3 little tiny ones).
Overall, we probably won't be back. However, the fish and chips ordered by the adjoining table looked great. I guess we should have gone for the bar food!
