Two weeks ago I called Amada and reserved a table for six for a Tuesday 6/28. I asked about the procedure for the suckling pig because only three had confirmed that they wanted to do that, and the menu said four was the minimum. I mentioned that I might persuade the rest to join in, and was told that I just needed to call them three days in advance to specify the size of the pig.

Yesterday I called to increase the party to seven and to confirm the pig (for all seven diners). I was told that they could accommodate the seventh diner, but that they were all sold out of pig for that night, so sorry. I was unaware that they limited the number of tables that could order pig on any given night. I'm very disappointed, as I have been dreaming about this pig for months now, and spent more than a week trying to get people willing to try something new (and kind of expensive for some).

I'm thinking about Zahav for the lamb shoulder, but I dread having to re-confirm with everyone and get them on board with yet another "out there" idea. Usually PF Chang's or Buca di Beppo is where we end up.

Anyway, I guess this is just a message to warn people that even though the Web site says three days notice is required for the suckling pig, you should call the restaurant as soon as you are sure and confirm the meal.
