I've eaten here several times, and recommended it regularly. I won't be again, I suspect. There are other similar restaurants in the area that I will try first. The food was fine, but except for the unusual tomato soup, nothing great. In fact, my chicken special, which the owner declared one of his favorites, tasted like a really good Marie Callendar's frozen dinner type stuff. Not bad, just not what I expected. Canned mushrooms are a surprise in a restaurant to me. The rice pilaf was excellent. The vegie platter looked good, and that plate was scraped clean. The lamb special, with pine nuts and rice, is usually a big hit but tonight fell flat. Fine, but not particularly interesting. Baklava - others ate it, saying they've had better. Service was, well, beyond the usual ethnic eratic and clumsy. Sorry, but I'll cross it off my list.
Anyone been to Istanbul Cafe in it's new location lately?
