I tried Dirty Bird today, and it is awesome! I got the chicken and waffles. The chicken in the chicken and waffles is a boneless thigh and leg over top a really delicious waffle. Maple syrup is poured over the waffle, but sparingly, just to add sweetness to the waffle. If you want extra maple syrup, it's available for an extra $2.
The chicken was crisp, juicy and beautifully seasoned. One of the better fried chickens that I've had in the city. On top of the chicken they pour hot sauce. Next time I would get the hot sauce in the side, because they were a little too liberal with it and it kind of overwhelmed the chicken. I actually scraped a lot of it off, because the amount they put on was overkill.
The chicken and waffles came with either coleslaw or potato salad. I got the potato salad, but gave it to my friend, and ate her fries instead, which were good, but not great. They also sell beef bacon as a side, which I got (of course), and it was delicious!
My friend got the 2 piece and loved it...so much so, that she barely spoke to me because she was so engrossed in her meal :)
My only real complaint was with the ventilation system. It was a bit smoky in there, but I guess I got used to it, the longer I sat.
They serve waffle ice cream sandwiches for dessert, and although I had every intention of getting one, I was just too full, so I opted for a scoop of ice cream instead. It was Greg's sweet potato (or was it pumpkin?) ice cream, and it was ah-mazing!!!
Overall, it was fantastic and I would definitely go back!
