The Dip in Sherman Oaks

I've driven by this place reguarly since it opened, but never tried it until today. I was going to go to El Jerezano, but was in a bit of a hurry.

I was going to order the lamb, but when I asked what was recommended, the woman behind the counter recommended the roast beef, pastrami, and pot roast. I decided to go for the pot roast. I added roasted red pepper for $0.75 and had it as a combination with soda and cole slaw. Total price with tax was $10.54.

What a rip-off. The pot roast was basically meat mush. It had the consistency -- not the taste -- of a sloppy joe. The bread was soggy 5 minutes after ordering, even though I got the au jus on the side. The cole slaw was mushy and swimming in liquid.

I know The Dip has received good reviews from critics, so was this just a bad night or bad menu choices? Is it worth giving it another chance?
