Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was sooo much fun last night!! A mixed crowd of after work 20-somethings and families all having a great time (even while waiting for a table in the spacious bar area). When you step into the restaurant it is like entering a "shack" in the South, i.e. wood, tin cieling etc. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and efficient, and most importantly all the food was yummy.
The jumbo chicken wings are just that, JUMBO...by far the largest wings I've ever seen on a chicken. Very succulent with a nice blue cheese dip.
The ribs were smoky and moist, falling right off the bone. All meat, no fat, they were a pleasure. A little bit of one of the spicier sauces provided in bottles on the table helped the taste even more in my opinion (contrary to a pre-opening tasting reported about on this board, the ribs were not at all over sauced...I would say that they had almost no 'sauce' of any kind on them).
The Syracuse style salt potatoes were whole small potatoes which were steamed and then came in a spicy Creole butter. Best to cut them open and dip each piece in the butter...sinful. Coleslaw was nice and tangy.
The Key Lime pie was fabulous!! A true Key Lime (yellow color) pie that was dense and creamy, tart and sweet, on an amazing crust (I could have eaten the crust alone!) topped with fresh real whipped cream.
135th street and 12th avenue has never tasted so good!! Let's hope this dinosaur doesn't go extinct anytime soon!!
