Dinnerware Distress

itryalot | Nov 1, 200807:05 AM     2

I sold all of my very expensive Royal Doulton fine china (14 place settings and serving pieces). In the 15 yrs I've been married, we used them about 20 times and they were like new. Our entertaining style has changed. We are less formal and have larger dinner parties with extended family.

So, I am on the hunt. I would like to get traditionally shaped all white dinnerware. What do I get - china, porcelain, stoneware, etc? What are the pros and cons? Ideally, I would like to put them in the dishwasher. I will not be purchasing full place settings, I think. I already have accent pieces (chargers, coloured pces, etc).

I also purchased new flatware from Oneida - the oversized SS matte handled traditional European looking line.

Any advice, help, suggestions?
