Two dinners for two?

Can you please help? I have looked through the Board and have almost too many ideas, as D.C. is obviously spread out. The quest is for dinner Sunday on the early side and Tuesday on the normal side at two great 'foodie' restaurants; the Chow Board regulars' favorites.

Sunday must be in Penn Qtr, and within a 20 minute walk to the JW Marriott Hotel would be ideal. I tried Central already; they seem to be booked well ahead. Tuesday could be anywhere, but if it's outside of Penn, it has to be worth neighborhood-wise going, as we would want to walk around the restaurant's location wherever it might be.

Food preferences are American, Seafood, Italian, Thai, whatever. Would ask for no sushi or steakhouses, just because we get that so easily from our homebase board of LA.

So if you only had 2 meals before you left town, and they weren't going to be in the church basement on the third sunday of the month in the spring, or the rib shack out of town that's worth renting a car for, where would you go?

As a complete aside, and not mentioned in my title, are the American Indian museum lunch options as good as the guidebook says? I'm dubious but interested...
