Dinner @ Pearl in Rockridge

S U | Sep 7, 200606:20 AM

So some folks treated me to dinner @ Pearl tonight... the picks included the spicy tuna poke which was not bad -- very fresh. Of course we sampled the oysters, but since we split the platter its kind of hard to comment; I did enjoy my duck island. The crabcakes were suprisingly chock full of crab, and they were moist; better than most that I have tried. One of the surprises of the evening was definitely the polenta cake that came with the seared scallops -- practically every time I have tried polenta I've hated it, but this had a nice subtle flavor that complemented well with the properly done scallops. Personally, I thought the pork belly a bit too much for the grilled swordfish entree (it came with sweet corn, garbanzo, gypsy peppers, and tomato relish), although some in our group thought it lent a nice balance to the otherwise light dish.
