Dinner after Nutcracker - Large group, kids and food allergies. Help please! [San Francisco]

CarlieInLA | Nov 19, 201403:37 PM     13

My family is visiting from out of town and we are going to the Nutcracker by the Civic Center at 2pm. I need a dinner restaurant for 9 people (including 3 kids, ages, 11, 7, 5). There is an allergy to shellfish and my family in general is more of a "meat and potato" crowd (no sushi or chinese). I have been researching, most places I find don't seem kid friendly or seem overly fancy. There has to be something for kids, but the adults want a good San Fran restaurant. Our kids are very well behaved but like steak/chicken/pasta. I don't want to pay $30 for my child's steak. We are going to be somewhat dressed up so nothing super casual.

We will have cars so could potentially go anywhere, but I was hoping to stay in Hayes Valley to avoid moving. This is looking unlikely.
Here are a few thoughts I had but I am not loving any of them:

Suppenkuche
Cafe Delle Stelle
North Beach Italian?
Tropisueno

We haven't taken my 5 year old out in SF so my past restaurant experiences are no help. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am not finding much that will work. Thank you!
