Dinner at Novelty

Howard | Sep 17, 2003 10:03 AM

Went to novelty last night to do the price fix with my girlfriend. While dinner was good as usual (I had the ceviche which was scallop infused with mango, and the lamb loin which was great as usual and my girlfriend had the calamari - incredible melt in your mouth calamari, but the salad it comes with was a bit overdressed - and the filet which was very tender and good) the star of the show was the dessert. Their newest dessert is an apple something. It is made with a square of phyllo dough (about 4 layers) on the plate, coated with walnut dust, cinnamon, and brushed with what seemed like caramelized condensed milk, topped with a healthy serving of marscapone cheese, another square layer of the phyllo (again 4 layers) with the walnut, cinnamon, and caramel stuff, topped with a generous serving of lightly spiced apple pieces, topped with yet another layer of the phyllo and a generous scoop of the homemade cinnamon ice cream. We both got this dessert and it was absolutely FANTASTIC!!. Anyway. If you go soon, get this dessert.
