It was as good as it ever has been. We had the Garlic Shrimp, the Garlic Soup and the Seafood Paella. I think they may have finally reached a level of stability and consistency and I hope they never lose it.
We prepared for the garlic with a bottle of a Primitivo from Cork and Bottle and with the Paella opened a bottle of Aglianico from the same source.
There was a big multi-generational family there for awhile after we got our table; loud, sassy kids, good humopred parents, perhaps an uncle, an old granny, they were a rambunctious bunch with four or five wine bottles in play. The man of my life said it reminded him of his family eating out when he was young. It's kind of interesting to think that in ten years or so we may sit for a family portrait of the same kind, hopefully at Lola's.
