Am at the airport waiting for a flight home after a conference at the Hilton in Markham. We went to Main street for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. A nice old town feel as we drove in. We arrived at Unionville Co for dinner and were greeted very warmly. The restaurant looks very urban but still warm. Being from Montreal, I loved it. We had a drink at the bar there were plenty of beers and wines to choose from. They had about 15 beers on tap and 30 or 40 bottles and about 20 wines by the glass. I had a Kronenbourg and a Delerium Tremens. Bartender was friendly and helpful with suggestions. We we seated upstairs for dinner in a beautiful room with white booths and linens and exposed brick wall. I felt like I was back in Montreal. We had a very enjoyable meal: fish cakes, arancini, prosciuttio pizzan, calamari, wedge salad. Duck pasta, bison meatloaf, crab ravioli and steak frites. With this we had a beautiful 1999 Brunello di Montalcino. Dessert was maple sugar pie! Home made! Service was prompt all night long, food was delicious as I was told the chef is the owner. We are opening an office in Markham so this will become a regular place to visit, even if it is for a drink at the bar. Plane is boarding-have to go.
