dinner: july 4th, 50 people

i've been asked by a friend, who's getting married on july 3rd, to arrange for dinner for his friends and family on friday july 4th. manhattan, around 6, vaguely east side as they'd like to watch the fireworks afterward. guests are paying their own way so i need to get something on the cheaper side, say btwn 20-30 bucks a head w/out drinks.

my first suggestion was chinatown, say 27 sunrise, but there's some concern we need to get a little more lower-common-denominator for this non-chowhound crowd.

a quick scan of this groups brings up in no particular order: lupa, koreatown, tony di napoli's, carmine's, tappo, and a few others, but most of those recs were for groups < 20 people. i'm assuming for a group as large as 50 we'll need to reserve/negotiate a room (a restaurant?) and a menu. any ideas?

could also use some market intelligence: is july 4th a slow restaurant day? i assume so but i'm never in town for it.

thanks in advance.
