Dinner at Irene's Cuisine

Ate at Irene's on Friday nite. Waited in the Piano bar area for about 1/2 hour. Our table was ready and it was the worst seat in the house (table for 2 wedged in between a wine rack and the wait service's thoroughfare, apart from all the other tables). Before sitting down i asked to wait for the next table, and they said no problem.

Five minutes later we were seated at a MUCH better table and began one of the best meals i've had in a VERY long time. We started with a Caesar salad (good flavor, but the lettuce was not as crisp as it should have been) and an order of mussels marinara. The mussels were FANTASTIC, with a touch of parmesan mixed in, which added to, but didn't take away from, the rest of the sauce. My girlfriend had Jumbo Prawns which covered her entire plate, and i had a filet mignon with jumbo shrimp on top. The steak was cooked exactly as i ordered it, and was delicious (as were the au gratin potatoes with goat cheese). Both of these were nightly specials and not normally on the menu.

Not only was the food great, but the service was perfect, attentive without being overbearing. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, and it's worth the wait, as they don't take reservations.
