I would really appreciate some help with this--I know this nabe has been discussed a lot, but it's one part of Brooklyn eating I'm not very familiar with. A bunch of us (maybe six, maybe more) are going together to the Japanese Macbeth they're doing at BAM in early December. We thought it would be fun to eat somewhere before the performance (7:30). Some of these people (most live in Manhattan) don't have a lot of spare cash although most are reasonably adventurous eaters. I'd love to take them somewhere really fun and friendly with excellent, well-prepared but not pricey food of almost any type that's a great advertisement for being in Brooklyn, preferably within walking distance of BAM. But we could branch out to Fifth Ave in the Slope or Smith St. perhaps.
