Although people here love the dimsum yumcha, I want to tell you about this great dinner I just had at 888 in Rosemead. There were two of us. I had the black bone chicken soup for one (it's under the double-boiled heading in the menu) and my friend had a turtle meat soup. Both are slow-cooked for hours with tons of medicinal herbs (astragalus, ginseng, etc) and you eat it all. Then we had the steamed live-shrimp, they split it and we had it with the garlic paste. Neither too exotic was the rock cod with yellow leeks/chinese chives (Jiu-tsai). But the breast of pigeon with two kinds of mushroom and asparagus was lovely, it's off the winter menu insert. If you or someone you're with can read Chinese, there's tons on the insert menu that's interesting and great - mostly soups and stews but some other dishes as well.
