My dinner at Blue Hill last night - here's the report!

Beautiful space. Very friendly staff. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for my friend. Bar was crowded with 8 people eating there.

When we were seated, we were given a parsnip soup amuse bouche - great way to start the evening.

My friend really wanted the foie gras, but they told us that they weren't getting it anymore because their "guy" in Hudson Valley died or something, and they can't find anyone to replace his quality.

But,one of the managers saw my pal pouting so he said he spoke with the Chef and he "found" some that he would make for her. We were a little worried that an old piece of duck liver was just lying around, but we were told not to worry.

So they delivered it on a bed of greens. It was delicious.

I had the "This Morning's Farm Egg" poached over a delicious turnip puree, greens, lardo and mushroom broth. Licked the bowl clean.

She had the duck (guess it was a theme) which was very tasty. It was over carrots (which were fine) and portobellos. I had the Guinea Hen over farro, brussels sprout leaves and winter squash. It was amazing. Some of the Hen was crisped up with the skin, and then the breast (?) was poached or steamed. It all came together great.

One of you fine Chowhounders recommended the chocolate bread pudding. So I ordered. Not what I expected, but man! Wow! Put us over the moon.

Just an excellent over all dining experience. I will definitely be going back!
