Dinner with Aunt and Uncle

MM | Aug 22, 2005 01:38 PM

Hello 'hounds!

I'm trying to get some preliminary ideas about where to take my aunt and uncle when they come to visit me in NYC next month.

A few stipulations...

They are used to fine dinning and I want to impress but not go too far off the deep end. I would love to do Bouley or Gotham, but I'm afraid that $40 for an entree is a bit too steep. I'm thinking mid to high $20s.

I am looking for not just a good meal, but a great dining experience.

The entire menu doesn't necessarily have to be simple, however my aunt suffers from SEVERAL food allergies, therefore wherever we go, she will probably order something very simple that's not even on the menu, like fish baked in olive oil (thus the nice dining EXPERIENCE as opposed to just good food, since she probably won't be partaking in the chef's grand creations).

Thanks so much for your thoughts!
