Dinner for 8, below , sorta quiet, moderately priced

Scratching my head. Doing a dinner for 8 or 9 people on a Saturday night. Adults -- which means we don't want to scream at each other. Actors -- which means it's gotta be anywhere from cheap to moderately priced ($12-$15 entrees is a sweet spot). Good food. And below 23rd, because...well, just because. No Chinatown, though.

My first inclination is Mojo (which I love), but it may be a little pricey for this round. I'm also thinking Jean Claude. Mina's would be perfect, but we can't do Queens. I'd do El Ranco de Griasol on 1st Ave and 13th, but they have loud, louc mariachis on the weekends. You folks are brilliant, what are your suggestions.
