Prior to coming to Manhattan, we were planning out our trip and wanted to have some pinxtos/tapas -- hoping for more authentic than "Americanized." We were NOT disappointed in Txikito. Were we magically transported back to San Sebastian? No. But did we really enjoy our pinxtos, and knew we had stumbled upon a gem? Absolutely.
Highlights: the white boquerón were delicious, as were the "regular" anchovies with pickled peppers and olives. The white asparagus from Navarra were wonderful, as was the pulp (octopus). All went well with glasses of Txakoli and a final glass of Patxaran . . .
One drawback: the street noise, combined with the restaurant's acoustics, can make for a noisy evening -- depending upon what room you are seated in.
