Dinner for 4 Under $250 Possible?

sivyaleah | Jun 17, 200512:18 PM     5

My husband and I are heading out to SF in October. We want to take my friend and his BF out to dinner, however, while we certainly can afford a very nice dinner, I do have some concern that the 2 of them may take advantage of our generousity especially since I haven't met the BF yet and know nothing about whether or not he's the type of person to do so. I certainly know my friend very well and he is a big eater too and, not used to going to finer restaurants due to money constraints.

Plus, we're not personally big drinkers - a glass of wine is about it for us, maybe 2 at the most, so a reasonably priced wine list would be important as well.

We're in town for only 1 night, so we'd like someplace special but not priced too high, I'd like to keep the whole tab to about $250ish, which seems adequate for 4 people to eat well somewhere.

Any suggestions? We eat everything, that much I know so ethnic suggestions will be considered too. Would also like a fun atmosphere, nothing stodgy. Any part of town is ok too.

Thanks!
Laurie
