Restaurants & Bars 6

Dinner for 1 Suggestion Needed

bostonpilot | Aug 18, 2017 07:05 PM

Hi All-

I am hoping that you can help me out with a restaurant suggestion. Here's the background:

I travel a lot for business, and around 7-8 years ago, I was spending a fair bit of time in Chicago and had a pretty good run of great meals going. I then moved my family to Asia for 6 years and the vast majority of my travel was outside of the USA. I moved back to Boston a year ago and I'm making my first trip back to Chicago next Monday night. My info is long out of date, so I'm looking for some suggestions.

As usual, I will be in town solo, so that influences what I'm looking for. For me, flavor and great food is astronomically more important than 'fanciness'. As a matter of fact, a place with a good bar to eat at and being comfortable in jeans is ideal' rather than a place to 'be seen'.

To put this in context, Graham Elliot was a favorite of mine when I was in town regularly - a fun, great tasting menu yet casual environment.

So, ideally, this is what I'm looking for:

-Open on a Monday evening
-Excellent food (i tend to like the interesting and unique and thrive on big flavors)
-Not Asian (although I love it, I get to Asia often still so I get it at the source)
-Not seafood as I live Boston and get top notch seafood here
-Taxi/Uber (or walking) distance from the north Loop
-Bar seating
-I'm fairly open on pricing and willing to go up to ~$150 for dinner for one

BTW - I've already done Fonterra and it didn't do a lot for me, so looking for other options.

Thanks in advance for all you guidance and suggestions!
