dining decision in Vegas.... trip report

Well made a few decisions on one of my latest trips to vegas. some were better than others... but as always there are so many more choices that days to eat....

Dinner at Rosemary's:.... lived up to all of the hype that has been said about that place on this board. Much appreciated the $15 off that someone had posted, as well as the half off wine on sunday night. It was exactly a $20 fare from the strip each way. The food was amazing. My hubby was not so sure initially when his comment was, "how much longer till we get there" and the cabby is telling us about some other place we should go because you get sooo much.... yeah, so anywho.... we had the tasting menu which was beyond divine. we decided to get a lovely bottle of chianti since the price as 1/2 off and we weren't driving. The chef sent out a little lagniappe of whitefish salad on cucumber with safron sauce.. yum!... then we had the salmon carpaccio which was devine!!! absolutely tasted like butter, and loved the toasts it came with. The Scallops!!! i saw a look on hubby's face that is normally reserved for private places. They were sweet, tender and melted in our mouth. Absolutely divine and the best we have had (well until our dinner a few nights later)... The bbq shrimp weren't quite what I expected, but they were so rich. On the take out menu at the desk, there is the recipe for their BBQ sauce which I plan on trying later. We then had the rack of lamb. it was okay, but we were getting full and as delicious as it was, it wasn't on the same par as all of the other dishes. Dessert, we had the storm, which as a nice sampling of their desserts. hubby and I fought over the sinfully rich goat cheese cheesecake and the creme brulee. Then with the check, a few other sweets, which they were kind enough to box up that I enjoyed around midnight at the black jack tables. also, the service was spectacular. very on top of the plates, could have been more on with the pouring of the wine.

Dinner at Pinazzie's at Harrahs... only reason we went was we had a $75 food voucher.... okay, nothing spectacular, not worth the money we would have spent, but we agreed it was worth the $15 or so we left for tip...

Dinner at Le Cirque... what a beautiful place. I always thought it would be bigger, but I enjoyed that it was small and we had a lovely view of the fountains. We decided that we would just do their reg menu and not their tasting due to being overly full after Rosemary's. The lobster and chantrelle mushroom risotto was great. I am not a fan of risotto, and I was sorry that I only got a bite or two, because I could have had the whole thing. My fois gras with fruits was good, but it wasn't the best I have had (Picasso has a better one). Hubby again had scallops and they were HUGE and so sweet. Just the right saltiness and so divine. Didn't think we would find some that would top Rosemary's but they did ... I had the sole which was lovely and lite. Great flavors. Dessert was the chocolate trio and the souffle. Both were great. Yummy without being overly indulgent.

Lunch at Mesa grill.... again decided to go since we had free dining credit at Caesars. hubby had the burger... big, but not quite worth the $17 price tag. My chicken tacos were interesting and very good. nice and tangy. Again, not sure about the $18 price tag. It was a lovely lunch, but nothing that knocked my socks off.

we were going to try and go to Lotus of Siam, but didn't have enough time with everything else... but it will be on our list for next time (and I am thinking another trip to Rosemary's too!_
