Ok, I don't think I'm going to be popular here but here goes. I can't figure out why most people speak so highly of Din Tai Fung in Arcadia. Me, being Chinese, have had my share of shao lung bao (dumplings) and having heard so many good things about DTF, was looking forward to my first venture there. Alas, I was disappointed. Maybe I had too high of expectation. It wasn't bad but it wasn't "out of this world" good. Hmmm, maybe I ordered wrong. I couldn't read the menu in Chinese so I had to resort to my broken mandarin to order. Fellow chowhounds, show me the errors of my ways. Help! Thanks.
By the way, have anyone ever been to Joe's Shanghai in NYC Chinatown? I thought their shao lung bao is better than DTF.
