My favorite dim sum restaurant in the world? Yank Sing in San Francisco. The food is very lean, and the artistry in the dumpling wrapping is incredible...dumplings that look like goldfish, orange skinned dumplings filled with a veggie curry filling, spinach colored dumplings filled with sauteed pea sprouts & garlic with finely minced chicken. I have been to Empress Pavillion, Ocean Star, and Ocean Seafood down here. Honestly, the best dim sum I've had in LA was at Chopstix when it was still open (on Melrose and on Colorado in Pasadena). The garlic dumplings and the fried bao with BBQ curry chicken and a peach dipping sauce was out of this world. This is LA...there HAS to be another innovative, delicious dim sum place! Anyone?
