New dim sum place in San Leandro

Wendy Lai | Jan 16, 200403:13 PM

D.T. Dim Sum & Tea opened about a month ago next to Foodnet supermarket in San Leandro. There are tables for dine-in, but they look like they do more take-out business. They also have a large selection of bubble teas available.
Being by myself, I wasn't able to order a wide varity. I ordered some shirmp dumplings, shrimp stuffed tofu and the pork and perserved jook. I was disappointed with the dim sum items, they were not hot enough. The wrapper on the shrimp dumplings were too thick. The tofu was too tough. BUT the jook was wonderful. It was piping hot and had plenty of pork and preserved eggs. I saw other order the fried crullers to go with that (which I didn't). They also had freshly pressed soy milk everyday, that looked really good too.
I think I will try back and order different items next time. I have a feeling this is the kind of place you need to order correctly in order to enjoy their strengths.
San Leandro has very little to offer in culinary delights. In the dim-sum department it's even less. So if you don't want to dine in at East Village, and you don't want the supermarket deli kind of dim sum, D. T. might be some place you want to give a try.
