There are basically three restaurants serving Dim Sum in Austin at this point;
Tien Hong 8301 Burnet Rd. (at the corner of Burnet and Olin) 512/458-2263
TNS 10014 North Lamar 512/339-8434
Twin Dragons 9717 North Lamar 512/832-8393
I prefer Tien Hong myself. Dim Sum is only served on Saturdays and Sundays. Tien Hong opens at 11:00 am. I suggest you call ahead for reservations especially if you are with a large party.

Quasi-authentic Chinese cuisine can be had at Din Ho 8557 Research Blvd. 512/832-8788
As is usual with Chinese restaurants, the preparation depends on who's cooking. Unfortunately I don't eat out enough anymore to have developed a relationship with either the cook or the waiters at Din Ho. I've had some superb bitter melon with fresh pork and Fu Yee (a type of sauce made with fermented bean curd), but I've also been disappointed with several just ordinary run of the mill dishes there.
It can be a little difficult to find for anyone not familiar with Austin. Heading North on I-35 from downtown Austin take the 183 Research exit and then the first exit off 183. Once you are on the access Rd. continue on for about a mile through about 2 stop lights if memory serves me correctly. Look for the Target store in a shopping center to your right. Turn in and once in the parking lot turn right again. If you lose your way ask anyone where the Target is.
Good Luck,
JB
