We just had Dim Sum at ABC Seafood in Foster City for the first time.
They told us a five minute wait, and it was 9 1/2 minutes (we guessed it would be from the crowd). They put us in a room that was full of tables of mixed Asian and Caucasian groups.
We've always before found the food good but the service lacking in this place -- today the service was much better. We were late though so they were out of some things we wanted.
Shrimp in rice noodle
Shrimp Har Gow
some kind of crab and shrimp dumpling in rice noodle
crab on a stick on sugar cane
steamed BBQ pork buns
It was all really good -- pretty much the best dim sum I've had. My favorites were the rice porridge and the crab stick, but it was all tasty. The porridge was mild, but it definitely tasted of broth (probably chicken) and also of rice, and green onions -- all of the various flavors were there and balanced. It was all pretty much like that -- mild but definite. The fried taro had a really light non-greasy lacy crust.
We were talking about how great it would be to get a group together, especially with some of you Chowhounds who speak Chinese.
