Dillon Beach Cafe

Came upon this because I got lost- stopped in to look at menu and very friendly busboy said he recommended eating there when I explained I was thinking about it. Boy was he right. Food was excellent and service was soooo friendly. Staff is mostly young and inexperienced but the lack of grace is more than made up by their trying to make things right.

They had multiple specials - one was barbeques oysters for $1/ each. I usually prefer mine raw (and had 6 raw for $9) but the cooked ones grew on me and I ended up ordering way too much food.

Also had steamed mussels and clams (well you were supposed to have one or the other but I wanted both and they accomodated this and many other special requests) $9 for a large serving which was wonderfully garlicky - the broth was superb - extremely flavorful and not watery. Sadly I could not do my favorite of moules frites because their fries are thick and after having these in France I highly prefer the thin ones.

Special that night was prime rib $15 for a LARGE serving that came with a salad (really good fresh ingredients including some very sweet fresh beets a wonderful mushroom and FRESH blue cheese as well as blue cheese dressing), garlic potatoes and veggies. Well the veggies were zuccinni which I don't really like so they gladly gave me more potatoes instead :) The one problem was that the prime rib was all the same supposed to be medium rare but was really medium, no au jus but a nice horseradish side. An amazing deal for the price!

It helps to ask about items on the menu - for example the starter mussels or clams were listed as $9 and there was an entre of mussels or clams which were a bit more. I asked if it was a larger order - turns out the main was over pasta - which is printed on their take out menu but not the one I was looking at that night.

I was lucky to get a seat on the patio (covered) which overlooked the water b/c I was early, but if you want to make sure you get a water view with your food better to make a reservation (the place filled up pretty fast). Phone is 707 878-2505
