Difara's Pizza in Brooklyn-ANYTHING in Chicago close?

CMC | Mar 3, 2003 12:49 PM

The latest "can anybody tell me where I can find 'x' food like they have in 'X' city?" discussions have finally motivated me to put out a call to see if there is ANYTHING in Chicago REMOTELY close to the pizza served at Difara's in Brooklyn (Midwood, Ave J). I know this is a long-shot as Difara's stands out from every other pizza place in NYC in style and quality, so guess I'm asking for something that might taste 1/3 as good. Give me 1/3 of Difara's and I'll eat there twice a week. What I'm really looking for is the ridiculously fresh ingredients, the amazingly thin, slightly crispy and very tastey crust and the abundance of olive oil.

I realize that a good amount of people have no idea what I'm talking about, so here's a link to the latest discussion on Difara's on the NYC board:

I've searched and searched for good thin-crust pizza in Chicago. I'm settled on deep dish (Old Chicago Pizzeria & Art of Pizza) and I've found a few places that are decent thin crust. I've simply been RUINED by Difara's and I would kill for something close.

Side Note
Old Chicago Pizzeria update:Drove by the new location Saturday night on the way to Dat Donuts (only a few blocks from each other now). The sign is up, stuff is inside but I couldn't tell exactly how close they are to opening.
