I went to Di Fara's with my boyfriend almost two years ago and had a revelatory artichoke slice. Pieces of artichoke were fried or grilled or SOMETHING, so that they were crispy and slightly charred, and then put on the amazing base of his pizza. We went back last year, just to try that artichoke pie again, but he said, no artichokes today. ok.
We went back today, and ordered a whole pie (I dragged my sister with us). Amazing crust, wonderful blend of cheeses, perfect crust, and...
CANNED ARTICHOKES! To be honest, they sort of ruined the pie!
So my question is, are the canned artichokes a whole pie thing? or an off season thing? or do you have to especially request fresh artichokes?
I want to be prepared for next time! I can't let go of the memory of that perfect slice from two years ago.
