I just tried the new deVille coffee shop, in the Colors building on 1st SW, for lunch. It was a truly horrible lunch. I am so dissapointed as the menu looked fantastic.
I had lobster bisque ($5), which was cold and gritty and a quiche lorraine ($8). The quiche was re-heated so much that the crust around the edges was burnt. My friend had the spinach salad ($8) which was topped with strawberries, almonds and cheese. It looked good but was very, very small. The strawberries were so ripe they were bordering on rotten. Unfortunately we got the food to go, otherwise we likely would have sent it back.
I understand the food is made at St.Germain and brought over, which is unfortunate because all of the sandwiches are wrapped and squashed in saran wrap. They looked really unappealing. There is no flexibility on breads or toppings because they are pre-made. Too bad the bulk of the sandwiches were on some kind of white bread. Either sub buns or ciabatta . I don't do white, so I passed on those.
All in all, not a great experience. But in all fairness, I guess it is just a coffee shop, so on a positive note, the espresso was very good. I don't know if I will order food again.
