Tried Devi, the new Indian-fusion place on 18th Street, on Saturday evening. WE love Indian food and were really excited about this for weeks, but were disappointed.
For appetizers, I had the manchurian cauliflower. It was absolutely delicious and the highlight of my meal.. I wish there were more! My husband had the Tandori shrimp, two giant prawns... very tasty..
For dinner, I had the stuffed eggplant. It was terrible. The sauce it was swimming in tasted like clay. It was very spicy, yet that's all I could taste. It had zero flavor.. My husband had the lamb chops. Delicious, but microscopic.. Thankfully, we had ordered the Naan, (one thin slice in an order) and a side of trio of rice (three spoonfuls)...
For dessert,. we tried the trio of creams, three tiny thimbles. The banana flan was just that, the citrus creme was pretty good, and the last thing was terrible..
Bottomline: the place is nice enough and some of the dishes are pretty decent, but the prices are outrageous for the amount of food you get.. Should have hit Sixth Street..
Empty on a SAturday night too, this place won't last..
