Detroit's 300th birthday --food

In honor of the 300th birthday of Detroit, today, wanted to share some specifically Detroit specialities

Sanders Hot Fudge sauce (the best jarred you can get)

Vernor's ginger ale ( a Detroit invention)

Cold duck (Pontchartrain Wine Cellar (now departed invention --half burgundy half champagne)

Boston cooler (why Boston? don't know) scoop of vanilla ice cream in Vernor's ginger ale

Coney Island (Yes, here!) The best in the country; cripsy skinned dogs, finely chopped no tomato, slightly sweet chili on top.

Muskrat as fish at Lent

Walleye--any time of year

Perch ---ditto, esp. at the Polish Yacht Club

Faygo pop (way before Insane Clown Posse)--red pot is the ur-red pop of all time

Little bit of extension :
American Spoon Foods (owners grew up here--now have mad Michigan fruits, especially, available everywhere)
