Detroiters in LA, report

berkleybabe | Feb 21, 200506:21 PM

Thanks for the suggestions for us Motowners in LA this last weekend.

We stopped Thurs. night at the recommended 26 Beach in Marina del Rey.. What a respite from a long trip and nasty weather! Cozy, candle-lit and very neighborhoody, we just relaxed into the place after a hideous drive from LAX.

Our party of five all ordered ae burger--just excellent, great food, great service. All our jangled nerves relaxed and we could continue to the hotel.

Saturday we tripped to Santa Monica and, trying to avoid the mall/promenade stuff, we stopped at Good To Eat on Wilshire. Berkleygary and I were freezing from El Nino, lots 'o rain, and we settled in to a lovely panini, salami and cheese, and split a huge cup of onion soup --one of the best we've every had; lightly beefy, peppery, with charred onions that gave the best flavor. This is a keeper place--glad to know there's a 'hound place near the promenade that teenager daughter spent time at....

Thanks for the tips! And try Good to Eat if you're in S.M.--
