I know that so may people post messages asking for the best place to eat in a given city, so I will be specific about what I am looking for. What would a New Yorker suggest for a Saturday night, after theater, semi-late night dinner, elegant setting but not stuffy, a well dressed crowd, bordering on romantic since it is a big date, bustling with great people watching but not a dive, possibly Italian, French, or Continental cuisine, great food a must, friendly wait staff, and a setting where people seem to enjoy being there, perhaps chatting with one another yet romantic in the sense that the light is dim and the linens crisp but the ambience is NOT hushed or quiet. This could be of the new and trendy variety and a see and be seen place but not jeans and t-shirt/Los Angeles style restaurant, only rather more East Coast dressy. Where would you be more likely to run into Hugh Grant versus Ben Afflek or Claire Danes rather than Nicole Ritchie? Celeb sightings are not requirments by any means, but it would be fun to go to a popular restaurant of the moment. Give a New Orleans girl a good time with good food.
