Seriously contemplating late afternoon sweets, we have been wooed by the delights of the pastry chef at the Lark Creek Inn, Salina Rubio: I had the Strawberry Shortcake; sliced berries and lavender Mascarpone Cream with a poppyseed biscuit crusted with sugar that was a shortcake, light, ethereal and melt-in-your-mouth...and had tastes of the Organic Sorbet Sampler...Blueberry Buttermilk cake...Bradleys Homemade Butterscotch Pudding (better than Town Hall's butterscotch pudding IMHO). Each dessert hit its mark for presentation and flavor. Service was exceptional; upbeat, friendly. For a little sugar between lunch and dinner, this is a perfect summer afternoon treat in the lovely garden seating or the quiet of the dining room. We were four Ya-Yas, needing a little southern comfort. We found it in the guise of a country inn - with desserts and Champagne.
