I desperately need to try something new

I know this is really vague, but I just need to try something new--something that maybe I haven't had, that's perhaps off the beaten path or isn't one of the restaurants everybody's always tramping through like an assembly line.

The DC restaurants that I've been to in the past year that I've liked (at least to some degree) include:
2 Amys
Lebanese Taverna
Rio Grande
Cafe Deluxe
Bobby Van's
Spices (for sushi)
Smith and Wollensky
Sam and Harry's (yeah, I like steak)
Ten Penh
Baja Fresh
Peacock Cafe
Cactus Cantina
Red Sage (okay, and yes, I love Mexican)
Caucus Room
Pizzeria Paradiso
Cashion's Eat Place
Little Fountain Cafe
Bombay Club
Heritage India

What you see here is a mix of prices, and types of food. I'm not necessarily looking for expense account restaurants here--I just want something different.

I love Mexican. I love steak. I love Italian, but don't honestly know a single good Italian restaurant in DC that isn't over the top expensive (I'd love help with that). I love Indian. Actually, I love lots of food. I love good delis, can anyone tell me where there is one? I also would love a suggestion on a great diner in DC.

Anyway. I welcome any of your suggestions. I'm sure I'm missing a restaurant or two in the list above, but those are the ones jumping to mind right now.
