This place had been rated as not so great here a while back, but I thought it was time to give it a try, esp. since it's not too far from my office (it's on 10th and 50th). I had a vegetarian platter consisting of saag, black/brown lentils, and chickpeas, with bread that was between what I think of as naan and pita. I thought it was all pretty good. The saag had a nice sourness, and though it seemed watery it wasn't really. Chickpeas were solid and straightforward, and the lentils had a kind of earthy sweet smokiness. These two were both a bit watery. Decent spiciness, and they give you fresh chiles to enhance. Bread was enjoyable--not homemade I don't think, but a nice firm but not stiff consistency. Would have liked to try the meat dishes, and maybe I will next time. I'd say it's a standard cab stand kind of place. I think my low expectations probably made it a pleasant surprise. And of course it's $5.00.
