Demise of Sunnyside taco cart, Bahay Kubo, and possibly La Flor!

BAAAADDDD news in Sunny-Woodside.

The evil health department storm troopers have evicted the Taco Classic truck from its position on 46th Street and Greenpoint Avenue. Does anyone have their cell phone number so I can track them down? I don't think I can tolerate living in Sunnyside without the availability of a torta de chivo at 2AM.

Also, I took friends and family to La Flor last night for dinner (53rd and Roosevelt), and we were the only customers. The owner/chef/waitor seemed depressed, and told us he may have to close down, though that would be at least a few months away. The food, of course, was excellent, and vastly underpriced. Folks, we need to eat here more. They serve much higher-end food than the menu suggests. Ask about the specials.

Lastly, Bahay Kubo (61st and 39th Avenue), the funky little Filipino place with the amazing quail egg and chicken rice soup et al, is gone.

The economy is in turmoil, we're in a cold war with the Chinese, The European Union is P.O.'d at George Bush's environmental sabotage, and my taco cart is gone. Is anything right with the world?
