Couldn't wait to visit DeMarco in the Village. I've made the 1.5 hour trip to DiFara from Westchester quite a few times. Well worth the time for the best of the best.
Manhattan is a lot closer, so I was very excited to learn of DeMarco. Arrived at about 1:30 pm this Saturday afternoon. Six people behind the counter and only three customers. The young girl serving seemed confused and inexperienced. Only two pizzas were out and they were both cold, but the pepperoni looked like it was a bit fresher. After tasting a bite I realized it was absolutely saturated with oil. Had to throw away 2/3 of it! Inedible. After waiting about 15 minutes, they finally brought out a fresh plain pie. Total disappointment! The crust was overdone and broke like a stiff cracker. Sauce was different from DiFara although the cheese came close to the mark. Overall, my local pizzarias are a lot better and less expensive (DeMarco charges $2.50 a slice).
Needless to say, I'm never going back.
